Mother’s Day hasn’t always been easy. I remember on one particularly difficult year, I was handed this card from my 6-yr old nephew. But I was not a mom. Puzzled, I opened it as he told me that he thought it was unfair that everyone—his mom, my mom, my grandma—were all being celebrated but I wasn’t. My heart beats in sync with their desire for worship, hunger for God’s Word, and commitment to discipleship without watering down the truth or losing their relevance and love. I said goodbye to my therapist for the last time. As I left her office, I closed a chapter on 260 weeks of trauma-recovery work.
