It was yellow. I had prayed for yellow.
Moving day was set, our boxes were packed. A new house, a new marriage, a new job. The future was looking bright.
And then it happened. Something didn’t feel quite right.
Over the next few weeks my energy faltered, and my knees swelled to the size of cantaloupes. It hurt to stand, it hurt to walk, it hurt to move. Continue reading
Tired of bloating, gas, abdominal pain or bowel trouble?
Reoccurring digestive issues can really cramp your style.
So you look to your doctor for help but he tells you it’s “all in your head” (wait…I thought it was my gut?). He labels you with a confusing acronym (IBS, IBD, SIBO) and sends you out the door.
Desperate for relief, you turn to the natural community. You sign up for an enormous amount of supplements, enzymes, cleansing treatments and spend all your money on whatever promises to heal you.
But what if you try it all and you STILL aren’t better? Continue reading
Every. Single. Year.
It’s not like I don’t know February is coming. But somehow I always find myself panicking before that first Sunday. Because when the Ultimate Game Day is just around the corner, only one serious question remains.
What will we eat?
Priorities, people. Priorities. When there are pigskin fans in your home, there’s only one thing that makes or breaks the game.
Food. And beer. And a working TV. And those comic relief commercial breaks.
Ok, ok. But back to food. Continue reading
Food sensitivities got you down? Don’t let your diet restrict your holiday this season.
Here are 5 tips for planning a delicious Thanksgiving dinner without all the stress on your stomach!
Lamenting the fact that you can’t have apple crisp or apple pie this year? Need to lose yourself in some comfort food after the election week?
While it may not seem very fallish, this crumble dessert takes the cake! I made this batch of low-fodmap berry crisp for myself and my family ended up eating it all. To my amazement, they chose this dessert over apple pie for Thanksgiving next week.
Below is what I came up with after making a few fodmap-friendly adjustments, Continue reading
Today, Captain America, Scooby Doo, and Superman visited my doorstep. Not gonna lie, when little miss bunch of grapes rang my doorbell, I about died.
I don’t know who is more giddy, me or the trick-or-treaters. But one thing is for sure. When you’re spending some serious time visiting the neighbors, you’ve got little time for much else.
Since when did Trick-or-Treating expand to FOUR HOURS? That’s a serious stash of candy, my friends.
If you want more than candy for dinner this week but don’t want to put in the time, I’ve got you covered. We ended this year’s chilly Halloween with a hearty bowl of…you guessed it…weeknight Chili.
Throw it in the slow-cooker and forgetta bout it. Perfect for those busy Fall nights! Continue reading
Cooler weather means it’s time to use up those garden leftovers before it’s too late. So I spent an hour last night gathering up all the goodness.
On a random side note, witnessing our first frost last year was most fascinating. One moment my flowers were beautiful and thriving and then literally in 12 hours they were black, shriveled, and lifeless. I was actually shocked how much damage frost can do in an instant. Hmm…feel like there’s a spiritual analogy in there somewhere… Continue reading
My favorite part about summer? The gas grill. Throw on just about any meal, toss in a few sides and you’ve got yourself a winner.
Officially on my Make-It-Again List, this recipe gets all three stamps of approval.
That’s right. This fish dish is gluten free, dairy free, and low fodmap! Not to mention full of omega 3’s, clean ingredients, and no sugar added! The combination of jalapenos, Cajun seasoning, and fresh pineapple gives it the perfect balance between sweet and spicy.
This is a great way to enjoy a healthy dinner today without the digestive pain tomorrow!
But enough about that. On to the important stuff. Continue reading
